Moon and Stars Newborn Session | Baby Jude | Peoria

When this little one came into the studio, I had no idea what kind of work out I was in for. This little guy really made me work for these photos.

Newborn sessions are normally some of my longer and more time consuming sessions. I often tell parents to prepare for 3-4 hours at the studio, but I have to admit that it doesn’t normally take that full 4 hours. This little guy was determined to show he was in control from the very beginning.

It seemed like he just didn’t want to sleep for the longest time. We stopped frequently to make sure he was comfortable and well fed. Even with those breaks we were able to capture some pretty beautiful moments.

Of course, during most of our newborn photo shoots, there are almost always plenty of breaks for messes, feeding and cuddling. Newborns need feeding breaks throughout the session, especially if they are a little fussy. As a mom of 2 myself, I have absolutely no qualms about stopping to give mom and baby time together.

Once this little guy was full he went easily into a milk coma of sorts. Off to sleep he went giving us the opportunity to make the magic happen. If there is only one thing I could tell parents when they come in for a newborn consultation, it is, “Don’t worry about how many times we stop to take breaks.” I like to say, we are on baby’s time when it comes to these kinds of sessions… and that was a reality on this particular day.
