Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! | Personal Branding Session | Historic Downtown McKinney on the Square

When I met Kim, I was looking for someone who was willing to do something a little bit out of the ordinary. Don’t get me wrong. I love every session I have had the opportunity to photograph. Sometimes it’s fun to just get out and play around. Play with color. Play with lights… or the lack there of. That’s exactly what we did!

Kim met me in Historic Downtown McKinney on the Square. When she arrived, she told me she had never actually been there. I hadn’t been there in awhile so it was a nice get away from my usual session locations. After playing around with some lighting indoors, we headed outside to play with some dramatic lighting concepts.

It’s always great to hang out with another creative but when given the opportunity to create with another creative… well, I couldn’t pass that up.

I borrowed a studio for a few hours from another photographer in the area, and Kim and I started there. We played with silhouettes and colors.

After our indoor shoot, we wandered out to the square where the sun had just set. Many photographers would stop shooting at this time of day because the natural light is near gone. In my opinion, that time of day can be the most fantastic time of day to work. External lighting can really bring some drama and punch to your images.

This type of session is perfect for the entrepreneur looking to stand out or the high school senior who wants something more dramatic than the standard portrait sessions.
